CIMA will organize our first ever Showcase and Business mission to SXSW Sydney in Sydney, Australia from October 14-20, 2024.
Positioned at the gateway to the Asia Pacific, SXSW Sydney brings together creators from across the region and the world to converge and celebrate what’s next in Tech & Innovation, Gaming, Screen, & Music. The conference and festival offers delegates the chance to create new connections through networking sessions, parties, meet-ups, panels, showcases, exclusive events, product launches and more.

This mission includes:
CIMA is seeking applications from export-ready Canadian independent companies with international experience. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong potential to conduct business in Australia by demonstrating established international recording, touring, or publishing activity. This mission is open to both members and non-members, although spaces are limited.
This opportunity is open to 10 Canadian companies and at least 5 Canadian showcasing artists (must be approved by SXSW Sydney).
- Showcasing opportunities for Canadian artists at Canada House.
- Participation at the SXSW Sydney Festival & Conference (Tech, Innovation, Gaming, Screen & Music).
- Meet the Canadians B2B session (or similar business event(s) organized by CIMA)
- Panel opportunities possible for Canadian participants.
- Canada House offered as a business hub for Canadian participants.
- CIMA will hire an on-site consultant to connect Canadian delegates with international industry and help them reach their business objectives.
- Possible discounted hotel group rate (TBC).
ASSISTANCE: Through CanExport funding, Canadian delegates selected for CIMA’s Trade Mission will receive partial travel-related support (economy air, ground transportation) and accommodation/per diem expenses for up to 10 applicants.
FEES: This mission is open to qualifying CIMA member companies as well as qualifying non-member companies. A fee to participate will be charged to each selected company, with a reduced rate offered to CIMA members. More details to be announced shortly.
HOW TO APPLY:
1. Complete SXSW Sydney’s artist application form here. (Deadline: May 3)
2. Fill out CIMA’s Canada House application form here.(Deadline: May 3)
3. Each artist must be accompanied by a business representative. Artists may represent themselves.
Please note that you must complete both SXSW Sydney’s application form and CIMA’s Canada House form to be considered for a play at Canada House during SXSW Sydney.

CIMA will be holding a virtual SXSW Sydney round table discussion on April 29th at 5:00PM EST with Claire Collins (Head of Music at SXSW Sydney). During this session, we’ll delve into the SXSW Sydney conference and festival experience for newcomers and provide insights into what attendees and artists can expect. This is the perfect opportunity to ask questions both as a potential showcasing artist and/or industry delegate.
